Kiwi Can card castle

On Tuesday Room 8 went to Kiwi Can.

Kiwi Can is a session where you learn life lessons and right things to do.

Our leaders ( faionga ) ( teacher ) is called Mr Matt and Miss Tuia.

Next Mr Matt said ¨so our new topic is called perseverance and it means to be patient¨.

Firstly , Mr Matt said ¨good afternoon Room 7 ah sorry I mean Room 8¨.

Then Room 8 said ¨good afternoon Mr Matt and Ms Tuia¨.

Further on we went into a energizer.

Our energizer was called card castle challenge.

It was boys vs girls.

The card castle challenge was for us to not be frustrated when we fail.

Afterwards when we were playing we finished but my friend stomped because he was excited
and it broke down the castle. Then we all said ¨AWWWWWWWWW¨.

Finally there was one minute left so we made a quick little chinese house.

Soon we all finished and the time was over.

But the girls tower fell and the boys won.

Boxing Feedback

WALT: learning how to box using the 3 commandments.

The 1st commandment is Respect.

I will have respect for myself , my coach , my peers and the sport of boxing.

2nd is Discipline.

I will have the discipline to turn up to every boxing session and give my 100%.

3rd is Safety

I will not cause harm to others and only practise under the guidance of a coach.

At boxing I was tired , exhausted and my hands were sweaty from the gloves inside the boxing gloves.
But I was excited to train because the last time I boxed was the year before Pax ( coach ) came.
What Boxing could improve on is if we could have lots of time.

I really enjoyed it and I would like to do it another time.

Earthquake Proof

Yesterday , Room 8 and Room 3 (our buddie class) were making an earthquake proof house.

To test our house we used a app called Accelerometer.

Firstly, before we started making we were all put into groups of three. In my group was myself ,
Dane and Tashan. For our house we planned what we are going to use.

During our planning we had to use a tablet (Ipad).

For our house we used blocks ,pens , cotton buds and pipe cleaners.

First we made the house out of cardboard boxes.

Next we used cotton balls and and blocks to stop it from moving to the sides.

However the house could go up or down so we used pipe cleaners to make it stick to the ground.

Finally we finished our house and put it to the test.

We put the phone on top of the house and shaked the house.

The lower the number the more earthquake proof this is.

Chatter-Box

WALT: use your listening skills.

Chatterbox

On Wednesday Ms bracey tore a piece paper from a magazine and gave the whole class one.
When I got one I was curious and excited about what we were going to do.

Soon Ms gave us a scissor each. ¨Hmmm what are we going to do¨.

Next we folded the corner to one side and we cut the oblong at the bottom.

After that I had a rhombus ( diamond ).

I was still curious about we were going to do.

Meanwhile we had to fold four corners in the middle.

Right after that we had to flip it over and fold the other four corners.

When I was folding the four corners I didn't want to hear the other people spoil the thing that we
were making so I blocked my ears. I also didn't want to look so I focused on my one.

Eventually we finished and it was a chatterbox!!

When I was playing with the chatterbox it was like a fortune teller.

A fortune teller is somebody who tells you your fate or what might happen to you in the future.

Magic snow !!!

WALT: a science experiment with polymer to write a recount from the experience.

Magic snow

Wow , magic snow!! On the morning of Wednesday the students in Room 8 took part in a science
experiment.

Firstly, Ms bracey told us the history about magic snow.

While she was explaining the students were listening. Ms said it was from New world supermarket.
She said that little kids eat it and they vomit in the toilet or sink.

If it goes into the pipes it can block it.  

After that happened New stopped selling it.

Secondly ,  I looked at the magic snow packet .We were given a cup and scissors.

Ms bracey went and grabbed a cold jug of water from a packet.

Finally , I thought it was going  to have magic snow already in the packet.
Next we opened the packet and there was another packet with powder in it.
Soon we opened it and tipped it in a cup  then we smelled it. It smelled like old glass art paint.
At last we poured the water into the polymer and rose up like a cake.
After that we played with it and we made a snow castle.
