The Power of ten

On your blog, list 10 species (animals or plants) that you would protect from extinction. For each one, give a reason as to why you think it is important to protect.

  • White Tiger
  • Rose
  • Pug
  • German Shepherd
  • Maui Dolphin
  • Popoto
  • Orange lily
  • Tane Mahuta
  • Zebra
  • Tui
I think it is important to protect things from getting extinct because everything that's living matters.

  1. Hi Auckland,

It's Leslie here, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team.

You've certainly got a lot of variety in your list of animals that you'd like to protect from extinction - everything from domestic animals, like dogs, to birds, plants and wild animals. Good for you! I'm glad that you've included a beautiful lily in your list. I have lots of gardens around my home so flowers are one of my favourite things on the earth!

And I'm glad that you've included the Tui - a native bird that is so special to New Zealand. I love the tuft under its beak!!

For you to earn full points for this activity, however, it would be helpful for you to add a little more to your explanation as to why you've put these different things on your list. Your statement that all living things matter is very true! but we're interested in knowing why you've especially listed the things that you have. Why are they so special to you?

Perhaps you could add more details to this posting and we can give you full points.

Meanwhile, I hope you're happy to be back at school!!

    Cheers,

    Leslie
