Plastic particles falling with snow in Artic

The scientists testing snow were shocked to find more than 10,000 microplastics per litre in the Arctic. Many of the plastics were so small that it was hard to determine where they had come from.
The Arctic is often seen as one of the world’s last pristine environments.
A German-Swiss team of researchers has published the work in the journal Science Advances.
The scientists also found rubber particles and fibres in the snow.
Researchers collected snow samples from the Svalbard islands using a dessert spoon and a flask.

🇹🇻Pacific Island Forum held in Tuvalu last week🇹🇻

The meeting saw the Pacific region’s 18 presidents, prime ministers and premiers all attend.
The main talking point at the meeting was around climate change and the things that countries could do in this area.
The final statement declared a climate crisis, called for an immediate phase out of coal, a commitment to reducing emissions to 1.5 degrees, and the replenishment of the UN’s Green Climate Fund.
However, this was only backed by the region’s nine smallest countries, including Tuvalu. It was not backed by New Zealand or Australia.

      🌞Space car orbits the sun🌞

The car, sent by rocket company SpaceX, completed the amazing feat this week.
In February 2018, the world’s most powerful rocket took off with a sports car attached to the top.
The car was an electric Roadster made by Tesla. Driving the car was a mannequin dressed in a spacesuit. He was nicknamed Starman!
Experts planned that it would take the car 557 Earth days to make the solar lap and it’s now been in space for over 560.
Unfortunately, we cant see Starman. He is now on the opposite side of the Sun from Earth, and is moving at around 24,000 miles an hour.

      📖Movie Review📖

Today I finished watching a movie named Wonder. I am going to be summarising the movie. Based on the New York Times bestseller, WONDER tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman. Born with facial differences that, up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school, Auggie becomes the most unlikely of heroes when he enters the local fifth grade. As his family, his new classmates, and the larger community all struggle to discover their compassion and acceptance, Auggie's extraordinary journey will unite them all and prove you can't blend in when you were born to stand out.

🐧 Fossils from human-sized penguin found in Waipara🐧

The fossilised bones of Crossvallia waiparensis were found by an amateur palaeontology named Leigh Love.
They were found at the Waipara Greensand fossil site in North Canterbury last year.
Five other penguin species have been discovered at the same site.
It is believed that the species was alive between 56 million and 66 million years ago. Evidence showed that the bird weighed up to 80kg and was about 1.6m tall. The discovery makes this one of the largest penguins ever discovered.

🚫Fart stops lawmakers debate in Kenya🚫

The offending smell was produced during a debate at Kenya’s Homa Bay County Assembly last Wednesday.
It was so bad it forced the speaker to suspend the session temporarily while air fresheners were brought in.
To make matters worse, members of the debate then started accusing one another of being behind the foul stench.
Amid the chaos, Speaker Edwin Kakach asked the assembly’s guards to help combat the smell by bringing in air fresheners.

Plants evolved a number of adaptations that helped them cope with these problems on dry land. One of the earliest and most important was the evolution of vascular tissues. Vascular tissues form a plant's “plumbing system.” They carry water and minerals from soil to leaves for photosynthesis.

      🛸 A Fly's Brain🛸

For the first time, scientists imaged a complete adult fly brain, allowing them to follow single neurons through the brain.
Using high-speed electron microscopes, the researchers captured 21 million images using 7,050 brain slices. The images enable them to track connections between neurons, a step towards mapping the fly’s entire brain circuitry. Studying the connections could lead to insights on fly.
