Flat Earth

Is the earth flat ? Many people believe that the earth is flat. Is it true? And if so can we fall off the edge of the world. Maybe we could jump to the moon from the earth.

People believe the world is flat because when they are on ground it doesn’t feel like you're on a sphere. Maybe they think that because they haven’t flown on a plane before. Members of the Flat Earth Society claim to believe the Earth is flat. Walking around on the planet's surface, it looks and feels flat, so they deem all evidence to the contrary.

If the earth is flat what kind of shape is it. Most flat earthers believe the world has hidden corners so I'm guessing it's a rectangular shape. I’m interested in celebrities who think the world is flat. One famous example is that Shaquille O’neal joked about the earth being flat. In a podcast that aired on Feb. 27, 2017, former NBA player Shaquille O'Neal proclaimed our home planet is flat, saying that when he drives from Florida to California "it's flat to me." Shaq later said he was just kidding.

An experiment I’ve seen on youtube is 3 men went to 3 different locations and put a magnet on the floor to see if the magnets moved. Their theory was if the magnets moved that the earth is officially flat. But when they did it , it didn’t work. Here’s the video if you want to check it out.

Who is the best musician?

Based on my research i've found out that the best musician in any genre is a man named William Hung. Truly great musical talents aren't often heard. You won't find one every year, or even every generation. In fact, whole millennials tend to slip away without one surfacing. No, certain talents only come along once in human history, and that's the case with William Hung. He is the greatest musician of all time — in any genre — because he epitomizes our highs, our lows, and our struggles to make ourselves heard. He's history's best musician because he speaks for anyone who has ever sought a stage, because he expresses life's complexities better than anyone else. That, and because these types of lists are entirely subjective and unaccountable. -Ben Westhoff

Music

 What is music?

Music, art concerned with combining vocal or instrumental sounds for beauty of form or emotional expression, usually according to cultural standards of rhythm, melody, and, in most Western music, harmony. Both the simple folk song and the complex electronic composition belong to the same activity, music. Both are humanly engineered; both are conceptual and auditory, and these factors have been present in music of all styles and in all periods of history, throughout the world.

Samoan chief Joseph Auga Matamata appeals conviction for human trafficking and slavery

The Hastings-based Samoan chief, Joseph Auga Matamata, was last month sentenced to 11 years in prison for illegally bringing 13 Samoans to New Zealand and exploiting them over a 25-year period.

"The Crown has filed an appeal against the sentence imposed on Mr Matamata. Shrink-Ray

“AHHHHHHH” the kids screamed. A giant boulder was chasing them down a hill. 2 days ago a man named Suli invented a machine to shrink anything . He called it the Shrink-Ray. Suli is an amazing and genius scientist who worked for NASA. He created the shrink-ray for astronauts so that they could shrink any asteroids heading to earth.

Suli has 3 kids , two boys and one girl. Their names are Tevita , Sika and Charlee.

Tevita was the courageous brother & Sika was the cheeky brother. Charlee the girl was the Smartest and maturest of them all. On september the 2nd it was National Bring your kids to work day. John took them all to work , he showed them all the cool and exciting gadgets .

While they were on the tour Tevita and Sika decided to wander off and play with the cool gadgets. Sika got bored so he left Tevita to go find cooler gadgets. Sika ended up being lost , he was searching for an exit door but there was none to be found. He walked quietly backwards [foot steps] …. Boom Tevita bumped into him ,  they went unconscious.

A few minutes later they woke up to see Charlee tipping water on them. They yelled at Charlee saying “why’d you do that for?”. She replied “ I was trying to wake you guys up”.

After that they all went looking for their dad. But while they were looking for him Sika wandered off again. He went to the Restricted Area only for staff only. The Sign Specifically said “Danger , Staff only”. Sika ignored the sign and walked in. In the room had all the dangerous weapons and even Suli’s Shrink-Ray. When Sika went up to the shrink-ray a loud sound occured.

[CREAK] The door opened , it was Charlee and Tevita. They all gathered around the shrink-ray machine. Sika accidentally pressed a button and they all shrinked.

They all “Why is everything bigger” ...

 Explosions Hit Beirut

A huge explosion has hit central Beirut.

The explosion, in the Lebanese capital, was centered at the port. At this stage 135 casualties have been confirmed, with over 5000 people injured.

The blast was felt throughout the country, even over 100km away.

Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab said an estimated 2750 tons of ammonium nitrate had been stored at a warehouse for six years. This was the cause of the explosion

Ammonium nitrates is an ingredient in fertiliser – and some bombs.

It was the most powerful explosion in years to hit Beirut, which is already reeling from an economic crisis and a surge in coronavirus infections.

Geometry - Angles of Polygons

Statistics

IALH: To use a Stem & leaf chart.
What is a Stem & leaf Chart?
Maths Term:
A stem-and-leaf display or stem-and-leaf plot is a device for presenting quantitative data in a graphical format, similar to a histogram, to assist in visualizing the shape of a distribution. They evolved from Arthur Bowley's work in the early 1900s, and are useful tools in exploratory data analysis.

Here is my Stem and leaf chart to compare my families ages.
Median , Range & Mean
What is a Median?
The median is the middle number in a sorted, ascending or descending, list of numbers and can be more descriptive of that data set than the average.
What is a Range?

Description

In statistics, the range of a set of data is the difference between the largest and smallest values.
What is the Mean?
The mean (average) of a data set is found by adding all numbers in the data set and then dividing by the number of values in the set. The median is the middle value when a data set is ordered from least to greatest.

My Life as a Pie

WALT: express my daily activities as percentages of a day and represent them in a pie chart.

Today we had to find the fractions i spend doing on my day.
So my denominator is 24 and the numerator will be how many hours you spend doing the activities.
Here is my activities and how many hours I spend doing them.

Next thing I did was turn these into fractions.
After that I convert them into percentages.
For example turn them into fractions the Denominator will be 24 and the activity will be the numerator . 7/24
Next to turn them into percentages. You have to do...
 7/24 x 100/1 / 24
=29.16
Now heres all the percentages turned into a pie chart.

Bubble Gum - Persuasive Writing

TOPIC = Should we be allowed to eat Bubble Gum in School.

Introduction : In Schools Bubblegum is one of the most strict rules.
Schools say bubble gum is not good for children because they get distracted. But today I am going to convince you that it is good for you.

Statement 1: Bubble gum is very good for you because it can help relieve stress . Bubble gum can be very useful if you are in a big test. For example when you are in a big test it will relieve anxiety.
Bubble gum helps a lot.

Statement 2: Bubble gum gives you strong teeth. As Long as the gum is sugar free then you are algood. If you chew gum for 20 minutes after you eat it can protect your teeth by removing food debris and increasing your saliva flow. Your saliva strengthens your tooth enamel because it carries phosphate and calcium.

Statement 3: Chewing gum is actually a workout. Did you know that if you chew gum for an hour you can burn 11 calories. So if you're at school you can burn 66 calories in a day.

Statement 4: Slim your waistline
According to a study by the University of Liverpool, chewing gum can slightly curb your cravings, which may help you make better eating choices. On average, the gum chewers in the study ate 36 fewer calories than those who didn’t chew gum. That doesn’t sound all that impressive, but if you cut 36 calories out of your diet every day, it adds up.
In conclusion chewing gum should be allowed in school. Gum has lots of good benefits. Chewing gum relieves stress and makes your breath smell nice . It strengthens your teeth and it also helps you lose weight. The bubble gum is like 4 in 1 deal

Space X

SpaceX has created history over the weekend by carrying two NASA astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS).
It marks the first time that NASA astronauts have been sent to space on a rocket owned by the privately-owned company, SpaceX.
The mission was launched from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida on Saturday. Later that same day the ship docked at the International Space Station.
The mission is important for future exploration, like the upcoming Artemis mission, which aims to put the first woman and next man on the Moon by 2024.
Moving forward Nasa will use SpaceX as a ‘taxi’ service to send people into space, rather than using their own rockets.
Below is an image of the dragon capsule used to dock with the International Space Station.
Originally the mission had been planned to take place on Wednesday 27 May, but bad weather meant the launch had to be rescheduled for Saturday.
The launch of the space rocket was impressive. Astronauts Doug Hurley and Robert Behken were blasted off into space at 27,000kmph – 22 times the speed of sound.
After the initial take off, the rockets used to push the spacecraft landed safely back to earth. Check out the video below.

How to find the circumference

There are two other important distances on a circle, the radius (r) and the diameter (d). The radius, the diameter, and the circumference are the three defining aspects of every circle. Given the radius or diameter and pi you can calculate the circumference. The diameter is the distance from one side of the circle to the other at its widest points. The diameter will always pass through the center of the circle. The radius is half of this distance. You can also think of the radius as the distance between the center of the circle and its edge.

This diagram shows the circumference, diameter, center, and radius on a circle.
If a circle has a diameter of 10cm, what is its circumference?

We know that C = πd. Since the diameter is 10cm, we know that C = π x 10cm = 31.42cm (to 2 decimal places).

How To find the Volume of a Cube

IALH: To find the volume of a Cube.

First things first is to try and find out how many Vertexes , Edges(sides and faces there are?
6 Face
12 Edges
8 Corners
The formula for the Volume of a cube is ...
- Height X Width X Length
For example if the Length , Width , Height are 5 cm each , Then the equation would be ...
- 5cm X 5cm X 5cm
= 125cm3

How to find an Area of a Square

WALA: How to find an area of a Square.

First thing you want to do is find the perimeter.
For example if the perimeter is 20cm.
That means the 20 / 4 = 5cm
So 5cm x 5cm = 25cm2

And that is the answer.

Facts About Squares

WALA: Squares

Basics Of a Square:
Square have...

  • Vertices ( corners)
  • Sides
  • Face
  • Area
  • Perimeter
Perimeter :

For example if one side of a square is 5 cm , then all around the square is 5 cm.
5cm + 5cm + 5cm + 5cm
= 20cm

How To Find An Area Of A Circle

Enter the radius, diameter, circumference or area of a Circle to find the other three. The calculations are done "live":
The Formula to find the area of a Circle is ...
- Radius , Squared X PI

If the Diameter is 1 cm , that means the radius is .5 cm
- .5 squared is .25
Next you do is .25 x PI
0.78539816339
And that is how you get an area of a Circle.

Gandhi Biology

Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi - WikipediaMohandas Karamchand Gandhi was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist, and political ethicist. Ghandi employed nonviolent resistance that led the successful campaign for India's independence from British Rule, and in turn inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world.

First Years:
Gandhi studied law at the Inner Temple. After 2 unsettled years in India, he was unable to start a law practice, so he moved to South Africa. He went there to represent an Indian merchant suit. He stayed in South Africa for 21 years, during those years he raised a family and was also first employed in nonviolent resistance in a campaign for civil rights.  In 1915 Gandhi returned to India . He set a protest against land-tax and discrimmination. Assuming leadership of the Indian National Congress in 1921, Gandhi led nationwide campaigns for poverty, expanding women's rights, building religious and ethnic amity, ending untouchability, and above all for achieving Swaraj or self-rule .

Protesting:
Also in 1921 Gandhi adopted the loincloth , he lived modestly in a self -sufficient community , and undertook long fasts as a means of self-purification and political protest. Bringing anti-colonial nationalism to the common Indians, Gandhi led them in challenging the British imposed salt tax with the Dandi Salt March in 1930, and later in calling for the British to Quit India in 1942. He was imprisoned for many years, upon many occasions, in both South Africa and India.

Prison:
On March 18, 1922, a British colonial court convicted Indian independence leader Mohandas Gandhi of sedition after a protest march led to violence. He was sentenced to six years.” I care so deeply about this matter that I'm willing to take on the legal penalties, to sit in this prison cell, to sacrifice my freedom, in order to show you how deeply I care. Because when you see the depth of my concern, and how civil I am in going about this, you're bound to change your mind about me, to abandon your rigid, unjust position, and to let me help you see the truth of my cause. “
-Mohandas Gandhi

Movement:
On March 12, Gandhi set out from Sabarmati with 78 followers on a 241-mile march to the coastal town of Dandi on the Arabian Sea. There, Gandhi and his supporters were to defy British policy by making salt from seawater. All along the way, Gandhi addressed large crowds, and with each passing day an increasing number of people joined the salt satyagraha. By the time they reached Dandi on April 5, Gandhi was at the head of a crowd of tens of thousands.

Assasination
Mohandas Gandhi was on his way to his daily prayer meeting in New Delhi when an assassin shot him on January 30, 1948. The 78-year-old activist was known around the world for leading India’s independence movement against the British Empire. His death came less than a year after India finally won its independence, leaving the country “stunned and bewildered,” as The New York Times put it, as to how it would navigate its new nationhood without him.
