Ki O Rahi is a maori sport that is based on myth and legend.
Here are the rules for the game.
On wednesday 4 teams from my school went to a Ki O Rahi tournament. 2 of them were Yr 5 & 6 and the other teams were Yr 7 & 8. Those 4 teams showed lots of mana and displayed the school values phenomaly. When we lost games we were gracious losers and when we won we showed lots of alacrity but we were still humble.
Back in the day, it was common for children to walk or ride their bikes to school, even as far as four or five miles, no matter the weather. Most children today have heard their parents or grandparents share a few tales about the challenges posed by these intrepid walks to school.
