The plastic pledge

For this activity, please ask one member of your family and/or a friend what they think about Countdown’s decision to go ‘plastic bag free.’

I tried to ask somebody but no one cared.
This is what I think...
I think it's good that they're banning plastic bags for the environment but what would we use to put our groceries in. Other people need plastic bags like homeless people they need it for their clothes and for their belongings. They don't have suitcases like us or drawers.
That's why I would like to keep plastic bags.

  1. Hi again Auckland

Your argument about homeless people needing the bags is interesting and an opinion that I hadn't considered. Maybe we could put together a campaign to get them some reusable bags. Do you think that would work?

Regarding what else we could use when we go shopping there are some good alternatives now days. Reusable canvas bags are everywhere and also reusable plastic bags that fold down into your back pack. You can also use cardboard boxes. It can be hard to get into a pattern of remembering to take them with you but after a while it becomes a habit.

    Have a great day!
