Who is Ardie Savea?
Ardie Suemalo Savea is a rugby union footballer who plays as a flanker for Wellington in the ITM Cup, the Hurricanes in Super Rugby and international rugby for the New Zealand All Blacks. In 2019, Savea was a member of New Zealand's 2019 Rugby World Cup squad and a nominee for World Rugby Player of the Year.

Savea sent shockwaves through New Zealand Rugby on Monday when he told former Warriors halfback Isaac John in an interview on the 'Ice Project' podcast that he wanted to play in the NRL.
The 26-year-old loose forward reiterated those comments on the 'Staf Chat' podcast with the TAB's Mark Stafford, adding that the opportunity to honour his Samoan heritage was a huge incentive to make the move.
