Price of Cauliflowers sky rockets

First, it was hand sanitiser, then bread and toilet paper, now it is cauliflower.
All these items have seen demand increase during COVID-19.
Kiwis have been on social media and complaining to the government after being asked to pay $NZ13 for a single cauliflower during the lockdown.
The hot and dry summer we have had in New Zealand has reduced the supply of the cauliflower. This has increased the price.
Data from Stats NZ shows cauliflower was $2.75 a kilogram in February 2007. This February, just before COVID-19 it was just $4.51.
It is believed that prices will drop again when the weather cools.White cauliflower with green leaves | A full grown, round ca… | Flickr
